Description: Starting from Parakai we will be running 3 bunches through to Wellsford and back. Each bunch will be supported by a vehicle and a short ride option is available. We will finish with lunch at Parakai. Cost $15.00
There will be no bunch ride from Avantiplus today!!

Title: Avantiplus Waitakere Bunch Ride Sunday 5th Sept
Location: Avantiplus Waitakere
Description: This is a repeat of 2 weeks ago. Starting on the Rec course to the top of the Rabbit, down Peak, Kahikitea Flat, SH 17 and home via Ridge Rd & Waitakere.

Long Ride 91km, 571M climbing 2 Bunches: 1-Under 5hr 28km/h ave & 2nd bunch 23-25km/h ave
Short Ride 56km, 382M climbing 1 Bunch: 23-25km/h ave
2nd bunch for Long ride will start with the short ride and split at Waikaukau Valley Road. If needed we will add a faster bunch.
Next Week the distance for the short ride will increase a bit but will still have short-cut options to keep it around 50-60km

Hillclimb was a blast. Saw some new expressions on some faces at the top, huge effort by all. A big thanks to Julia, Catherine & Sue for their help with the organization of the day.

Volunteers Wanted!!
Callling all members, families and friends. Many hands make light work so get involved and join the DoC committee at the BMX track on Birdwood Winery estate to help make this planting day a success.
The action starts at 12:00 so heaps of time for a ride in the morning. Sausage sizzle will be provided and you will have the chance to get a climpse of the proposed Te Rangi Hiroa MTB facility. Please let Rochelle know by email if you can help out.

This year we will be following a slightly different format.
GOAL: Form a group of riders of a similar ability who share the under 5 hr at Taupo goal that can ride together once a week as part of their Taupo training. The intent is for this group to be able to ride together on the day too!!
WHEN DOES IT START: Sunday August 8th
RIDES: This year we will ride as a separate group as part of the Avantiplus Waitakere Sunday Bunch Ride. We will also use some of the fun rides to prepare for Taupo.
WHO CAN ATTEND: All riders prepared to put themselves in a position to go under 5 hours
KEEP UPDATED: To keep up to date with under 5 hour info register on the DoC website for the Under 5 hr group emails and keep an eye on the DoC events calendar.

Title: Timed Hill Climb
Location: Swanson
Description: Come along and test yourself on the 1km climb. Each rider will ride twice and times added together to get results. Promises to be both challenging and fun. Avantiplus Bunch will still run but be shorter so you can do both. Riders ride against the clock and 1 min. intervals up Christians Road. Times will be taken at the top and riders are to return down O’Neills Road. 1st rider starts at 10:00am, Briefing will be at 9:45 at the Swanson Cafe. Please do not park on Christians Road.

As you may already know, I have been selected to compete for NZ at the World Long Distance Triathlon Champs in Germany on August 1st 2010. I have managed to get most of the money together that I need but I am faced with a shortfall for the overall trip. To help me afford to go I am running an evening where friends can come and watch The A Team at Westgate Theatre, Westgate, Auckland, on July 21st at 9.00pm. Tickets cost $20 and you can pay on the night - but please rsvp to me at this address and I can make sure you get a seat:-)

Cateye Moonride is one of the iconic mountain bike events that simply could not be missed. As usual Waitakere community was well represented, both in terms of quantity and quality of our teams! AvantiPlus Waitakere shop team finished 2nd in the category and so did the brave girs from team WheelyForknKranked. After fantastic effort Duane and his team Bro Smuggle won Bronze in 24h Open. Another Bronze medal went to team Wheely Wheelyfast with locals Bruce Weir and Alan Postance on board. Jafakids came home with a good collection of silverware as well, team Up Your Arse finishing 1st in 12h Mixed (and 3rd overall!) and team Jafas to Go placing 3rd in 12h Juniors. Several other local teams missed the podium but still managed to place high among over 400 competitors. Finally, there were plenty of personal feats! Gary “Hutch” Hutchinson completed his first 6h solo race and Andrew Jameson finished 9th in 24h Solo despite serious eye problems.
Big thanks to Craig and Rochelle for organizing the logistics, TeAtatu Soccer Club for their large tent, all the team members for high spirits and the weather for staying dry! Next event: Taupo Day-Night Thriller!
