Hi Everyone I am looking for volunteers to support the Real Womens Dualthlon On Saturday 1 May and Sunday 2 May. Jeff is going to provide a Bike Mechanic to help support the event as well as apparael and bike etc. However we still need a team of volunteers – (2 to 3) that can help out on either Saturday and/or Sunday. Sat 1st 12:00-5:00pm Sun 2nd 8:00 (at the latest)- Finish (1:00Pm??). At the one in February we had packed up and left by 11am so you do not have to stay until the bitter end We will provide refreshments for those that a willing to help out. Also, congratulations to all the brave souls who battled the gale, burning legs and broken spirits between Rotorua and Taupo last weekend. Described by some as the toughest ride they’ve done in their cycling career, 2010 Flyer took many by surprise and proved to be a real challenge to riders at all levels of fitness! But, as they say, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger… bring on the winter! Venue: Paddy’s Bar, Kumeu Time: From 6:30pm Food and cash bar provided. The day dawned fantastic for the 2010 Colville Connection. Not a cloud in the sky, and the trails looking bone dry. There was a huge turnout from the AvantiPlus Waitakere/DOC crew. Read more… 2 Lap individual TT results including comparison times from the first ride of the season. We are proposing to end the season with another 2 lap individual TT on march 25th. Too let us know what you would prefer post a reply to this post. Sorry no points this week, will sort out after I get back, Jeff You are invited to celebrate the lighting of the Project Twin Streams cycleway on Friday, 19 March. The celebration will be held at Field 3, Henderson park, Waitakere (access from Wilsher Cres) from 5.30pm until 9pm. It’s planned to have a lot of free family fun, with people walking, cycling and pushing prams, enjoying entertainment and the sausage sizzle, and taking part in various competitions for the best dressed bike/pram/person/stream creature etc.
Don’t forget, next week is an Individual Time Trial over 2 laps of the course. Same start time & place. What a FANTASTIC weekend. We had a great time, thanks to all those who attended and especially Catherine & Rochelle for making it all happen. The weather was brilliant and many riders achieved personal best times. A couple of outstanding results to be mentioned are: Tony Kelly – 2nd in age group 4:09 Mark Neville & Gary Hutchinson – First in Tandem category
