More Support for our Event – The Fireplace Bar & Brasserie!

Big thanks to The Fireplace Bar & Brasserie in Kumeu, situated just 500m from the start line for our event. They are sorting us out with FREE hot chips at their place for after the event – and it is no exaggeration that they are the best chips out west for sure!

So let’s gather for a quick drink after the road event on 6 March, scoff down some chips, check out the placings and review the mtb race details for Saturday. More info to come…

Wed Night MTB Social Ride UPDATE & Lead Ride Roster

Hi MTBers

The Wednesday Night MTB Social Ride has a flash new page on the DoC website! Check it out here or when you head to the website you can find it via the menu on the front page by hovering over “MTB”.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to be a lead rider for the Novice Coached/Social Ride. The roster can be found here or you can find it on the website as a sub menu to Wednesday Night Social Ride (see image below). This is a really important ride – I learnt all my fundamental skills from all the generous lead riders during 2012 – it probably means more to the riders than you think.

Happy riding everyone,

Supporting Grass Roots Racing: U16’s Can Be Accompanied by Adult at King & Queen of the Cog

We want to make racing accessible to everyone who wants to give it a go. Grass roots racing is where it all starts and as a club we want to support this.

If you are under the age of 16 and it’s your first race, or one of your first, you are welcome to have an adult ride with you free of charge (adult will not place in the event).

Just a few notes:

– The junior rider cannot draft off the adult in the road race.

– U16 riders are welcome to ride alone (with parental sign off on the waiver), both courses will be well marked and the mountain bike race will have a tail end charlie with current first aid certificate.
