Road Race – PRELIM RESULTS

Preliminary results are now up.ย Please take a look as there is likely to be a few mistakes. When large bunches came over the finish together, we got times but didn’t manage to see all your numbers.

The main concern is getting your placing correct as your two placings combined form your overall points…lowest points wins. Times will just become important if we have a tie with the scores.

To all Masters Men in the 2nd bunch, don’t worry, I have reduced your times by 30 seconds in order to do the overall Masters Men placings.

Final Event Info

Thanks for registering for “King & Queen of the Cog”, we’re looking forward to having you! Here’s some final event info/reminders for you:

 

Road Race – Thursday 6 March

* Parking is at Kumeu Community Hall

* Toilets & changing rooms available in hall, no cleats inside please!

* Registration 5pm-5:30pm + goodies pick up

* Compulsory briefing 5:45pm

* Race start 6pm in age category waves, starting 30 seconds apart (some may be combined if low numbers)

* No aid station

* Please join us after the race for a quick drink at The Fireplace in Kumeu shops to check out your time, placing and to have a yarn about the mtb race on Saturday. Also a good time to ask any questions about the course. They are providing free hot chips for us and it’s a regular club hangout so they are used to full lycra-clad people in jandals ๐Ÿ™‚

 

A few rules for the road race which will be reiterated at the briefing:

* All road rules must be obeyed as it is an open road

* No going over the centre line

* Only 2 abreast

* Kept as far left on the road as is safe

* Must wear a helmet in accordance with NZ safety standards

* Bike must be in road worthy condition

* Listen and obey all marshals out on the course

 

MTB Race – Saturday 8 March

* Event base is in the picnic area, drive right on through the first forest gates then turn left

* Registration 8am – 8:30am

* Compulsory briefing 8:45am

* Race start 9am (mass start)

* One aid station at 9km mark with water and lollies, or leave your own fuel there prior

* Prize-giving and spot prizes soon after the last person comes over the line; approx 12 noon

* There will be no refreshments available to buy at the event base and no shops nearby, so bring drinks/food to keep you going

 

New Age Categories

We have decided to combine some race categories to better reflect participant numbers as follows.

U20

Open (any age can enter this)

Masters 40+

MTB Race Start Time CHANGED to 9am

Hi all,

Due to a double booking of the forest we need to change the mtb race start time to 9am. Luckily the double booking was with our friends over at the NW Orienteering Club, so we have worked together to organise for our event to move forward by 1hr and their event will move out until slightly later.

This reminds me that I must say a big thank you to Rayoniers (who run the forest) for their support by allowing us free access to the forest for our sport.

More Support for our Event – The Fireplace Bar & Brasserie!

Big thanks to The Fireplace Bar & Brasserie in Kumeu, situated just 500m from the start line for our event. They are sorting us out with FREE hot chips at their place for after the event – and it is no exaggeration that they are the best chips out west for sure!

So let’s gather for a quick drink after the road event on 6 March, scoff down some chips, check out the placings and review the mtb race details for Saturday. More info to come…

Can you help? Equipment and man power needed for “King & Queen of the Cog”

Hey guys

Thanks for a bunch of hard-working club volunteers, planning of our event is well underway. We are now looking for on-the-day volunteers and equipment for the event. Can you help?

Road race – 6 March 2014

MC x1 (5pm – 7:30pm), ideally can do Saturday as well

Timers/starters x2 (5:30pm – 7:30pm)

Finish line marshal x1 (6:30pm – 7:30pm)

Event base set up/pack down x1 (5pm – 7:30pm)

MTB race – 8 March 2014

MC x1 (9am – 2pm), ideally can do Thursday as well

Course marshals x3 (9:30am – 1pm)

Timers/starters x2ย (9:30am – 1pm)

Tail end charlie x1ย (9:30am – 1pm)

Event base set up/pack down (9:30am – 2pm)
