U 5hr Ride Sat Aug 29th 12:30pm

Hi all

Our next ride is this coming Saturday. Plan is to get 3 solid hours in at endurance pace . Will try and keep it as flat and easy as possible. This will be a good test to see how well we can apply our bunch riding skills.  Will probably go out through West Harbour and through to Helensville, back home on SH16 and Red Hills Road.

See you there

U 5hr Post Ride 15th Aug

Great ride on Saturday, it is getting better every time we go out.  A couple of points to remember

  • Keep it smooth when exiting the front, don’t slow down until you have pulled off the front.
  • When you have pulled over you only need to slow down by about 1 km/h. Don’t sit up.
  • Keep you’re “eyes up” towards the front of the bunch and try to anticipate any change in pace.
  • It is the responsibility of the riders on the front to point out potholes, glass etc. Use hand signals!!
  • Remember a small swerve or change in pace at the front can turn into a big gap at the back.

Next ride Aug 29th. Any questions give me a bell.

Cheers, Jeff

Oki Doki Ride Review

July 26th saw the 11th running of the Okoroire Mid Winter Fun ride and at last the weather came to the party. DoC was well represented with over 40 riders completing with many great results across the board, the highlight of which had to be the 2 tandem teams.

The night before was also a highlight with the DoC event planning committee  doing a fantastic job of organizing accommodation, hot pools and a stunning roast meal. We all had  a great time and we hope you did too. Special Thanks to Barb, Catherine, Rochelle and Wendy

Our next events will be the Day-Night Thriller for the mountain bikers and the Pukekohe Express for the roadies.
