Pilot Flex CPAP Battery for Travel, Flights & Back-up Power (2025)

After the success of Medistrom's previous Pilot Lite series of CPAP batteries, we're pleased to now stock their new in 2025 Pilot Flex CPAP Battery with 30% extra power, and the upgrade makes it easier than before, as this new Pilot Flex is one battery to work will both 12V and 24V CPAP Machines, so now the only choice needed is which colour is preferred!

Some CPAP manufacturers have their own batteries and we do sell a selection of those as well, but it's worth considering that if you were to ever change to a different manufacturer's CPAP machine, then the specific battery would not work with another brand of CPAP machine. This is why we have chosen to supply the Medistrom range of universal batteries which work with most CPAP brands.

Hope2Sleep Charity's Observations:-

This Pilot Flex is the new addition to the Medistrom CPAP Batteries, and unlike the Pilot-12, Pilot-24 and Pilot-19 Lite series which are specific to different CPAP machines, this new Pilot Flex is one battery (in a choice of two colours - Charcoal Black or Navy Blue) and is designed to work with the most CPAP machines. The only essential extra needed will be the compatible cable kit for the CPAP machine (unless you have a Resmed AirMini Travel CPAP Machine as the cable kit is included with the Pilot Flex).

Pilot Flex CPAP Battery for Travel, Flights & Back-up Power (1)

The Pilot Flex is the world's smallest, yet most powerful CPAP battery that is allowed to be carried and used on long-haul flights, yet at the same time is small and convenient to be taken on camping or off-grid trips, and also acts as back-up (UPS) battery power during any power cuts. This means that as long as the the battery is connected to the CPAP machine, if there is an unexpected power cut during sleep the battery will kick-in and take over powering the CPAP machine with no interruption to CPAP therapy.

As good as the Pilot-12, Pilot-24 and Pilot-19 Lite Medistrom Batteries have been for the past few years, these new Pilot Flex are able to power the CPAP machines for 30% longer! They are also smaller and even lighter than the previous models. There is also now an extra fourth option for charging the batteries viathe USB-C port (as a more compact travel option).

Pilot Flex CPAP Battery for Travel, Flights & Back-up Power (2)

The Pilot Flex will now power both 12V and 24V CPAP machines, whereas the previous Pilot-12 were for CPAP machines that ran on 12V (like the Philips DreamStation machines, Breas Z1/Z1 Travel machine or DeVilbiss) and the Pilot-24 were for machines that ran on 24V (such as Resmed, Lowenstein Prisma, BMC, Apex and Sefam). This is much better as it means that if you should ever change to a different manufacturer's machine then a new battery will not be needed - only the compatible new cord will be required.

For even longer battery usage, it is possible to link an unlimited amount of Pilot Flex Batteries together.

Medistrom's Introduction to their New Pilot Flex CPAP Battery:-

Dual Voltage Technology

The Pilot Flex combines our previous battery capabilities making it compatible with both 12V and 24V machines. You no longer need to purchase different batteries based upon the CPAP machine you use! The battery will automatically detect the CPAP machine's voltage, leaving you free from having to adjust any settings.

Longer Run Times

With an average run time of 16 hours, the Pilot Flex yields up to 30% more battery life than the Pilot Lites. Need more power? You can connect multiple Pilot Flex batteries together for an even stronger, longer lasting run time.

Smaller and Lighter

With a size of just 17 cubic inches the Pilot Flex is the smallest battery of its kind while still being more powerful than ever before. The battery weighs just over 1lb making it the ultimate travel companion.

1 Year Warranty

When things don't go as planned, rest assured, Medistrom has your back! Each purchase is backed by a 1 year warranty along with the help of our prompt technical support team.

Travel Friendly

Our batteries are FAA/TSA compliant having a 98Wh capacity- just below the 100Wh threshold limit imposed by the airlines. The compact size and weight make it extremely portable and easy to bring on all your travels! The Pilot Flex makes travelling with your CPAP device easier than ever!

Always Aluminium - Never Plastic

Pilot Flex's aluminium casing redefines the meaning of modernity and durability! Using aluminium instead of plastic ensures the battery will be long-lasting, corrosion resistant, and less prone to internal damage! Aluminium is both lightweight and extremely durable.

Different Colour Choices

Add a touch of personal style to your CPAP regime as we are proud to offer your Pilot Flex in one of 2 colour options; charcoal black or dark navy blue. The choice is yours!

Multiple Recharging Options

The Pilot Flex now offers four options for recharging your battery!

  1. By using the AC adapter which comes with your CPAP device.

  2. By charging your battery through the USB-C port (as a more compact travel option).

  3. By charging the Pilot Flex from the comfort of your car using our Medistrom Car Charger!

Approximate Run Times:-

Although it's not possible to confirm how long a single charge from any battery will last, Medistrom have provided below estimated run times at low and medium pressures on various CPAP machines. Do bear in mind that battery usage will vary, and will very much depend upon different CPAP pressures, length of sleep, mask leakage, air temperature if camping, age of CPAP machine, altitude etc.

As you will see from the table below, it is NOT recommended to use a heated humidifier or heated tubing as this will drastically reduce battery power! However, if using the Pilot Flex is only being used for UPS back-up power in case of an unexpected power cut, then you may manage to continue usage of the humidifier and/or heated hose if the power is only for a few hours. For people needing as long as possible from the battery and concerned about using CPAP without a humidifier, the XyliMelts for dry mouth are a good option for many people in addressing a dry mouth. Alternatively, as mentioned previously, more than one battery can be used and 'piggy-backed' for longer power usage.

Shipping

We try our best to ship all orders received by us Monday-Friday on the same working day if received before 12 noon, and more often than not orders processed before 3pm will be despatched the same day whenever possible. Weekend or UK bank holiday orders are sent out the within the next two working days when possible. An automated email is sent when products have been despatched so please check your spam box and add us to your safe senders list. Also, if you do not receive an email confirmation, please check that you have typed the correct email address in your account.

All orders are sent via 1st class mail within the UK. Masks and some other more expensive products are always sent via 'signed for' insured delivery and cannot be left in 'safe' places, but there is the option for an alternative shipping address when processing the orders.

Delivery charges are worked out automatically by weight and you can clearly see the delivery charges before making a payment. On the rare occasion delivery charges are miscalculated by the website, a refund will be sent, as it is not our policy to make money on postage charges and neither do we add the cost of delivery into the price and offer so-called 'free delivery' like some sites and Ebay pressurise sellers to do!

Wherever possible with larger parcels, we try to re-use boxes to keep shipping costs down and protect the environment.

If a product is out of stock and the order contains multiple items, the 'in stock' items will be sent immediately and further items will follow upon arrival with no further postage charges incurred.

Important for International Orders

We can ship most products internationally, but all prices are in UK British Pounds and if paying by debit or credit card the bank will automatically convert to the current conversation rate. Likewise, if you choose the Paypal option, they will convert into your currency for you as payment is made.

International orders are sent via tracked Airmail, and whilst we're happy to ship internationally, we cannot be held responsible for any delays at Customs at your end, or charges that may be added in your own country, such as customs fees and import tax on delivery, which are determined by your country’s import laws and are beyond our control. Therefore, it is the customer’s responsibility to pay these charges, and certain courier companies will not be able to deliver the goods to you without pre-payment of any charges. From our experience, it appears to be randomised as to which parcels incur extra charges, but please know that all accompanying paperwork is filled in correctly when shipping and there is nothing more we can do, as much as we'd like to.

If you purchase from us out of the UK or you move to another country after purchasing products, please be aware that the warranty for CPAP machines, masks and parts from the manufacturers are under warranty with the manufacturer based in the UK, so you will be responsible for sending the product back to us and will need to pay postage to get the product back to you after exchange or repair, as the manufacturer will not pay for shipping in any country outside of the UK.

RETURNS

Masks, CPAP machines and and most other products are exempt from a refund or exchange unless faulty due to health and hygiene issues -as stated in our 'Terms and Conditions', and in particular due to the risk of cross contamination as they cannot be re-sold. TheConsumer Contracts Regulations 28.(3)(a)confirms exemption as follows:-"exemption in the case of a contract for the supply of sealed goods which are not suitable for return due to health protection or hygiene reasons, if they become unsealed after delivery."

Unopened (sealed) products in their original packing can be returned within 14 days for a refund of the product cost, but the purchaser is to pay the return postage, and we would advise retaining proof of postage. This excludes any faulty goods, for which postage will be reimbursed. A full refund for the price of the product will be issued when received by us, less the original postage charges when the order was sent to you.

We cannot advise on individual cases, but more information can be found on HMRC’s website under notice 701/7 on the following link https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/vat-notice-7017-vat-reliefs-for-disabled-people.
