Career
Lenny and Max Santos, who are brothers and have no relation to Romeo, established Banda Sueño with their cousin in 1993. Lenny and Max had to find a replacement vocalist as the cousin didn’t remain for very long. At last, they met Romeo Santos, who presented them to Henry, his cousin. The four lads got together and started playing music in the Bronx under the name Los Tinellers. Manager Elvin Polanco discovered the band in 1995 and assisted the boys in recording their debut studio album, “Trampa de Amor.”
Manager Julio César García rebranded Los Tinellers as Aventura the year after they started working with him. After signing with Premium Latin Music in 1998, the group’s debut album, “Generation Next,” was released in 1999. The CD featured six tracks from “Trampa de Amor,” including the popular “Cuándo Volverás.” The second album by Aventura, “We Broke the Rules,” was released in 2002 and featured the worldwide hit single “Obsesión.” Particularly in Italy and France, the album achieved number one status.
The year 2003 saw the release of “Love & Hate,” Aventura’s third studio album. Later that year, in 2004, they released the live album “Unplugged.” As a result of 2005’s “God’s Project,” Aventura finally broke through to the mainstream with singles like “Ella y Yo” and “Un Beso.” The album also reached number five on the Top Latin Albums chart. The band made history in 2007 as the first bachata act to sell out New York’s Madison Square Garden. “Kings of Bachata: Sold Out at Madison Square Garden” is a live record and DVD based on the event.
In the middle of 2009, Aventura released “The Last,” their fifth and last studio album. With a peak of #1 on the Top Latin Albums and #5 on the Billboard 200, the album became the highest-charting product by the trio. It gave rise to the popular songs “Por Un Segundo,” “All Up 2 You,” “Su Veneno,” and “Dile Al Amor.” In 2011, Aventura went their separate ways, only to reconnect for several shows and tours. The band’s farewell performance took place in the Dominican Republic towards the end of 2021.
Following the dissolution of Aventura in 2011, Santos began performing as a solo artist. After signing with Sony Music Latin, he put out his debut solo effort, “Fórmula, Vol. 1.” The album was backed by four hit singles: “You,” “Mi Santa,” “La Diabla,” and “Promise,” the last of which featured Usher. With a number one spot on the Top Latin Albums chart and a nomination for Best Tropical Latin Album at the Grammys, “Fórmula, Vol. 1” was an enormous success.
During his The King Stays King tour in early 2012, Santos played three sold-out nights at Madison Square Garden. A live album and DVD were later published, documenting the concerts. He kept on touring all through 2013. He followed up his 2013 solo debut with 2014’s “Fórmula, Vol. 2.” As a result of the success of the singles “Odio” (which featured Drake) and “Propuesta Indecente,” it surpassed all other Latin albums in sales that year. In the years that followed, Santos kept on touring and his concerts were always sold out.
“Golden,” Santos’s third solo studio album, came out in the summer of 2017 and was another commercial smash. “Héroe Favorito,” “Imitadora,” and “Sobredosis” were among the many singles included. The album’s Golden Tour took Santos back to Madison Square Garden for three sold-out performances. In 2019, he dropped “Utopía,” his fourth studio album as a solo artist. He collaborated with Aventura again for the album’s lead hit “Immortal.”
Santos played to a sold-out MetLife Stadium as part of his album tour; the performance was later filmed and released as a live album. “Fórmula, Vol. 3” was his subsequent studio album, which came out in 2022. Two songs, “Sus Huellas” and “Sin Fin,” which featured Justin Timberlake’s cooperation, served as accompaniment to the album. The next year, in 2023, Santos sold out many locations around the Americas on yet another wildly successful tour. The Latin Grammy for Best Merengue/Bachata Album went to “Fórmula, Vol. 3” later that year.

Despite Romeo Santos’s relative silence on the subject, a Latin media outlet broke the news in 2016 that he had been in a long-term relationship with a woman whose identity was not publicly disclosed. He posted an Instagram photo of the happy pair, and the woman was wearing a wedding band, which led to this theory. As a result, speculation began that the couple was getting married soon.
In the year 2024, Romeo Santos has a brood of three. He has kept their identities secret, but Alex Damian, Valentino, and Losano are their names. On the eve of the 2020 New Year, he welcomed his youngest child, Losano. At 21 years old, Alex Damian is the most seasoned, while Valentino is only about three years old.
